![]() I haven't noticed any slowdown in the time I have had both devices. Hope that's useful, ask if you want any more info. I use Microsoft Edge browser, Outlook for email, and exactly the same apps on both devices. It's hard to quantify, but I probably get around an hour less from the Tab S7+ with normal use. The extra screen size is great, and splitting the screen with 2 apps, plus a floating app, is so much easier than on the iPad.īattery life - the iPad is better, but it's not a massive difference. Size - the Tab S7+ is a larger device, but roughly the same weight and it is not so big as to be unwieldy. I don't play games so cannot comment on that. Speed - in normal day to day work I see no difference whatsoever. The speakers on the Tab S7+ are superior to the iPad Air 4, but it's not a night and day difference. I tend to use the Tab S7+ in portrait mode, which means you have a lot more height to write on before running out of room and needing to scroll up. The S Pen is also easier to use - the times I double tapped the Apple Pencil by mistake. The Apple Pencil taps annoyingly on the screen, and feels 'hard' to use (like a biro on glass), whereas the S Pen is silent and much nicer feeling on the screen. It's just as good, and the S Pen is far better for note taking than the Apple Pencil. I use Onenote extensively, and it works almost identically on the Tab S7+ to the iPad. The Tab S7+ screen is even better than the HP Spectre X360 14. ![]() I swapped to the Tab S7+ and it's like night and day. ![]() My daily laptop is a HP Spectre 360 14 with the OLED screen, and the iPad Air 4's screen is pretty rough compared to that. I have both the iPad Air 4 and the Galaxy Tab S7+ so can comment on both.įor me, a mid 40's guy with less than perfect eye sight, the iPad gave me eye strain to the point it was uncomfortable to use. Install an app like galaxy max hz to extend the battery life.Įdit: I just realized you're talking about the ipad air 4 and not the 12.9 inch iPad pro, the tab s7+ is huge compared to that one, screen size is the last thing you should be worried about. Samsung tabs have a protect battery feature which limits charging to 85%, so you shouldn't really be worried about battery degradation. This means even if you don't get as many OS updates you still get the security updates for 4 years (vs 5 on ipadOS) and your apps easily remain updated for 5 years (and even more). Unlike ipadOS where all the cool app updates are tied to the OS update, on android it's modular. I mean the people who say this are mostly ios users. I need mine to last at least the next 5 years, and heard that Samsung does not offer good update support compared to the iPad. I guess once you start working on it you'll get used to it. I mean of course the tab s7 plus looks narrow compared to the 12.9 inch, but in reality you have sufficient space to work with. The differences are mainly obvious when you type notes, I handwrite my notes so I've never really felt the android app to be lacking.Īlso, does the aspect ratio of the samsung bother you What other features does the apple version have? I would really appreciate some insight, as I've been spending hours thinking about this, and it's kinda stressing me out lol. The price difference between the 2 devices is only ~$40, so the price isn't a factor. I also heard that apps like OneNote are bad on the S7+ compared to the iPad, and I plan to use that app since I am given 5 terabytes of free storage on OneDrive from my uni, and it would be easy to sync with my laptop. However, the S7+ seems to be a wide rectangle, and I'm worried that it would make it "cramped" to write notes properly (no room for my palm+wrist), as I don't want to be scrolling down 24/7 when writing notes (on landscape mode). The iPad Air seems to be shaped much more like a piece of paper, allowing for lots of room both horizontally and vertically. The reason I'm hesitant to get the S7+ is because of its aspect ratio. Its secondary use would probably be for watching shows. The main purpose of the tablet will be to write notes for lectures, annotate pdfs, complete assignments, and the like. For the record, I have an android phone and a windows laptop. I'm entering university this Fall, and I can't decide between getting the tab S7+ or the iPad Air 4.
